PROGRAMME AT HUMANITY HOSPITAL

Our first free health camp on behalf of vagus was organised yesterday at Humanity hospital, Thakurpukur. This hospital is now famous as u know it is this hospital which was created by Mrs Suhashini mistry the ordinary lady who began her career being a vegetable seller…and thus collected money for her hospital. Mrs mistri has just received Padmasree from the Hon president of India on 20 th march 2018.

THALASSAEMIA PROGRAMME AT GOKHALE MEMORIAL SCHOOL ON 7. 5. 18

On the 7th of May 2018, to commemorate World Thalassemia Day, the Haematology Department of N. R. S Medial College together with Gokhale Memorial School and Vagus conducted a cultural programme at Sarala Devi Auditorium. The participants were the Thalassemia patients and their mothers who sang and danced enjoying every moment.

This was followed by an Interschool debate and quiz structured on Thalassemia awareness. The schools performed brilliantly and in the quiz contest Howrah Zilla School secured the first position while Salkia A S High School were the runners up.The prize money for the quiz competition was sponsored by Vagus. First prize of Rs 10000 and second Rs 5000. A gift cheque and a memento was offered to the winners in quiz competition on behalf of Vagus.

PROGRAMME AT MOGRAHAT SCHOOL ON 11. 5. 18

On the 11th of May, Team Vagus visited Chakparan Kantakhali Belmoni Girls’High School with an array of awareness and screening programmes.

Classes 5 and 6 :- Dr. Lokesh Pande, Dr. Pulak Koley and Dr. Manchamani Ghatak conducted Paediatric screening while Dr. Sumana Pal conducted dermatological screening.

Classes 7 and 8 :- Haematological tests and Blood grouping done by Dakshinanchal Swasthya Sadan, a charitable institute based in Joynagar, Majilpur.  Vagus will bear the entire cost.  Adolescent Awareness programme by Dr. Nibedita Roy Gaheer.

Classes 9 and 10 :- Thalassemia screening and awareness programme by Dr. Rajib De and Thalassaemia Department of NRS Medical College.

It was a highly fulfilling experience for Team Vagus.

Out ot the 41 students screened for Thalassaemia, 4 were carriers. Their siblings would also need screening.
